Employee Representative Committee

Western Construction Services provides its team members with an opportunity to voice issues through an employee representation committee (ERC). The primary role of the ERC is to offer ideas and feedback to the management of Western Construction Services and to bring forward the views and interests of team members on the development and implementation of work-related policies and terms and conditions of employment. The ERC also acts as an employee change advocate and serves as an internal communications channel between management and team members regarding work related issues.

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Construction Coordinator / Assistant Project Manager Co-op Student who is looking to gain hands-on, real-world experience in construction project coordination. This placement is ideal for students interested in construction management, civil engineering technology, or project management.

You will work closely with our project management and site teams, gaining exposure to both office coordination and active construction sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers with day-to-day project coordination
  • Support scheduling, document control, and project tracking
  • Help prepare and organize project documentation (drawings, permits, reports)
  • Attend site visits and assist with site coordination activities
  • Assist with subcontractor communication and coordination
  • Support safety documentation and site compliance
  • Help track materials, deliveries, and equipment
  • Participate in meetings and gain exposure to real project decision-making

What We’re Looking For

  • Currently enrolled in a Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, or related program
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and take initiative
  • Comfortable working in both an office and construction site environment
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office; construction software experience is an asset but not required)
  • Valid driver’s license is an asset
